A Helping Hand in a Time of Need

At Cobb Sheriff’s Foundation, our goal is to provide sustained support and improve the quality of life for agency personnel, underserved communities, and socially disadvantaged citizens. Our work is possible thanks to private donations, strategic partnerships and public events to reach the community.

When it comes to private donations, we have dedicated funds that support a variety of needs in the community, and it is an honor to be able to provide support when called to serve.

Recently, members of the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Domestic Violence Unit were called to a residence in Acworth to serve a temporary protective order (TPO) to a young female.

As she was packing some of her personal belongings, the deputy and team noticed that the woman and her 3-year-old child had no family in Georgia, no transportation and no financial means to obtain shelter for the night.

Immediately, the deputy and team began to search for a safe place for the young woman and child to stay for the night, but none of the local shelters had any availability. The deputy made contact with the Sherriff’s Office Community Engagement Unit and with the assistance of Cobb Sheriff’s Foundation, arrangements were made for her and her child to stay at a local hotel.

Cobb Sheriff’s Foundation was able to fund a two-night stay at a local hotel to provide the young woman time to make better living arrangements. This is an example of how our Citizens Fund allows the foundation to support citizens in need throughout Cobb County. Learn more about our mission and how to support our efforts here.
